Um Ali Dessert

This is a delicious Egyptian dessert that is to me an elevated bread pudding. I like to use croissants in mine. I hope you love my recipe as much as we do!

Ingredients:
⁃ 3 cereal sized oven safe bowls
⁃ 4 large croissants ripped into quarters
⁃ 3 cups whole milk
⁃ 1 cup heavy whipping cream
⁃ 1/2 cup sugar
⁃ 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
⁃ A pinch of saffron
⁃ 1/4 tsp cinnamon powder
⁃ 1/3 cup of each (slivered almonds, sweetened coconut shreds, golden raisins, pistachios) you can add or take away whatever you prefer. You can add chopped dried apricots for example.


⁃ In a saucepan bring to a simmer the milk, heavy cream, cardamom powder, cinnamon powder, sugar and saffron.
⁃ Divide the croissants into the oven safe bowls and bake in a preheated 400f oven for 10 mins or until golden ontop.
⁃ Remove from the oven and evenly distribute the nut/ fruit mixture onto the baked croissants.
⁃ Evenly distribute the milk mixture ontop of each bowl.
⁃ Bake at 400f for 18 mins.
⁃ You can enjoy these hot or cold they are delicious either way!
