
Walnut Baklava
This is a super easy way of making homemade baklava. I hope you try my recipe and send me your remakes!
Ingredients:
• 3 c walnuts
• 1 c light brown sugar
• 1 tablespoon cinnamon powder
• 2 c melted Crisco Butter flavor
• 1 package of Fillo sheets
• 2-3 c of room temp or cooled simple syrup
• 9×11 baking sheet
Directions are super easy.
• Preheat the oven to 400f
• Spread some of the melted crisco to the bottom and edges of the baking sheet
• Separate half of the Fillo and place on the bottom of the baking dish
• In a food processor, pulse the walnuts, brown sugar and cinnamon together until chopped well.
• Spread that nut mixture into the first half of the Fillo.
• Top the nut mixture with the other half of the Fillo
• Cut into your desired shape
• Pour the rest of the melted crisco onto the cut baklava
• Place into the oven and set the timer to 15 mins
• At the 15 min the baklava should start to brown. This is when you stay near the oven and take it out when it’s a beautiful golden brown color.
• While it’s hot drizzle ontop the cooled syrup
• Let it cool uncovered for about 2 hours and then devour!
